14 ceramic tile tableaux featuring Boer War battles and Boer Generals were discovered beneath the wallpaper of the old Victoria Theatre in Amsterdam in 1969. These were typically 1.5m w x 2.3m h. The scenes had been painted by Cornelius de Bruyn. Dr Punt of the Simon van der Stel Foundation secured the tiles for South Africa. Exhibited in the T.P.A. building in Pretoria in 1970 they were acquired by P.W. Botha who was then Minister of Defence and are now housed in the Boer War Museum in Bloemfontein.

Langalibalele was a rainmaker of the amaHlube tribe located in the Drakensberg foothills. Despite the moderate Bishop Colenso weighing in on the side of justice he was banished to Robben Island for 13 years. Generally in good condition. wear at folds and cross-folds is minimal, shows drawing-pin holes so was at some time pinned to a wall and shows signs of such. Scale 65 miles per inch.Inset of South African railway systems with distances and altitudes. two smaller insets, one of the African continent with the 'Cape to Cairo' rail route, another of Cape Town suburban lines. The map area stretches as far north as Lake Tanganyika, and shows adjacent territores such as Germam South West Africa & German East Africa, and Portuguese East & West Africa.

Gilt dec. grey cloth boards. 175pp illustrated col.b/w. elephant folio at 16.75"h x 16.75"w. Boards are VG+ condition. There are some marks, shelf wear, but the general appearance is nice and clean. There is no inscription but a mite of insect attack to lower area of ffep, the facsimile contents are Fine end to end. The d/w is VG+, marks show, but there is no loss, no tears, no chips, there is some rubbing and marks; no major faults but accumulated smaller faults render it less than pristine. Sable. A facsimile copy of the 1840 edition. ISBN 9780620083928
This is a same-size facsimile edition, not to be confused with one of the small reduced-size editions. The consummate hunter's hunter, Harris slaughtered game in quantities that no one else was ever able to match - mainly because in later years all the game had been slaughtered.
